FIRST INTERNATIONAL CASE 1979: FROM SYDNEY TO SARDINIA TO WIN MILLIONS IN DAMAGES FOR CLIENT

Tom's client, a Sydney businessman, suffered serious brain injury and resulting loss of speech after a shocking car accident. He had no family to look after him in Australia and was repatriated to his homeland, Sardinia, in Italy. It was impossible for Tom to communicate with the client’s family in Italy who could not speak English. The only solution was for Tom to visit the client and his family in Italy. By interviewing the client, his family, doctors and therapists via interpretors Tom was able to compile all of the details necessary to undertake a personal injuries claim. Tom returned to Australia, prepared the claim and provided the court and the insurance company with all necessary particulars before obtaining orders for a hearing in Rome. The case was heard with witnesses travelling from Sardinia to give evidence. It was then transferred to Sydney to hear evidence from local witnesses. The claim was successful and the client awarded millions of dollars in compensation.
